Terms and conditions

1. General
The visitor enters the muZIEum at their own risk. Parents and supervisors are responsible for the behaviour of their children. The instructions of our employees must be followed at all times. Please respect our stage props and dispose your waste in the waste bins provided. Our employees are entitled to expel visitors who do not adhere to our terms and conditions, or who (threaten to) disrupt public order. In this case the visitor has no right to a compensation. 

2. Entry
In order to enter our tours, one needs to be registered in our system. For children, the muZIEum advises a minimum age of 8 years (see also point 15 for rules regarding the supervision of children). The muZIEum is entitled to refuse entry to persons, for example when a visitor is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or when they (threaten to) disrupt public order.

3. Safety
Regarding the safety of visitors, it is strictly forbidden for visitors to enter the technical room and/or areas that have been assigned for employees only. The muZIEum is not responsible for any injuries and/or damage to personal belongings and clothing.

4. Personal items
Carrying weapons or other dangerous items (the definition of this is decided on by our employees) is forbidden. Use of narcotics is not allowed. The use of balls, balloons, and other toys is only allowed outside the muZIEum. Radios and other audio equipment are not allowed inside the tour in total darkness of the muZIEum. Scooters, bikes, skates, and other possible means of transport are not allowed inside the muZIEum.

5. Food and drinks
It is not allowed to bring food or drinks inside the muZIEum. However, it is possible to buy refreshments and snacks at the bar.

6. Pets and other animals
Pets and/or other animals are not allowed in the muZIEum because of the safety of both the animals and the visitors of the muZIEum. An exception is made for guide dogs, except in the tour in total darkness, which they cannot enter. They will be held safely in the dog kennel provided for these situations. Please contact us if you want to visit the muZIEum with a guide dog, because we need to make sure we have a kennel available.

7. Clothing and footwear
It is not allowed to wear luminescent or reflecting clothes or shoes in the tour in total darkness.

8. Photography and filming
It is prohibited to make photos or film during the tour in total darkness. At the activity plaza and during the outside tour it is allowed to make photographs, provided it is for personal use. Publication of visual and/or audio material is prohibited, except when the management of the muZIEum has given written permission in advance. Visitors may be filmed or photographed. The muZIEum retains the right to use this material for publication.

9. Attraction
The tours of the muZIEum have been designed in such a way that a maximum of seven persons at a time can take part. For the outside tour a maximum of six persons has been set. The muZIEum retains the right to combine smaller groups in one tour. The muZIEum is not responsible for any damage. The tour in total darkness is managed through several technologies. Delays may be possible in case of malfunctions in our technology. The muZIEum does not provide refunds or discounts as a result of delays.

10. Damage
The muZIEum is carefully maintained. Even then a visitor may be confronted with an unsafe situation or with damage. When this happens, please notify one of our employees so we can take action as soon as possible. In case of unintended damage to our property caused by the visitor themselves, we also request that the visitor notifies one of our employees before exiting the muZIEum. 

11. Liability
If the visitor experienced damage during their visit at the muZIEum, the visitor needs to inform their host of this before they leave. A possible compensation will not be provided if we are notified at a later date. The muZIEum is not liable for any damage dealt to the visitor, except when this damage has been dealt on purpose by the muZIEum or one of our employees. In addition, the muZIEum is also not liable for any lost or damaged items that have been handed to the muZIEum for safekeeping. The exclusion of liability in this clause does not apply if the muZIEum, regarding the amount of risk created, receives a compensation from an insurance company or another third party. 

12. Promotion and sales
Promotion or sales of services and/or products inside the muZIEum, onsite or at the entryway of the muZIEum is not allowed unless the management of the muZIEum has given prior written permission.

13. Smoking
Smoking is not allowed on the premises. Smoking outside the muZIEum is allowed on the therefore appointed locations. Cigarettes must be deposited in litter bins.

14. Use of facilities
During the tours, which take about an hour, it is not possible to use the toilet. We advise visitors to use the toilet before the tour starts.

15. Children and supervision
The muZIEum keeps an advisory age limit of 8 years and older for the tour in total darkness, and 13 years and older for the outside tour. We request that children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old are accompanied by at least one adult supervisor. If the tour is interrupted, the supervisor is requested to leave the tour, possible with the otherwise unsupervised children. In this case, the muZIEum does not provide a refund. It is not possible to terminate the tour and start it again later.

16. Make a reservation for an English speaking guide
Before visiting us, we advise visitors to make a reservation by telephone or e-mail so the availability of an English speaking guide is guaranteed.

17. Cancelling or changing the number of visitors
Do you want to lower the number of people in your group or cancel your visit altogether? We regret that of course, but it is possible. However, we held these place(s) for you and made sure that a guide is available for each tour. Because of this we apply the following cancelation costs:

Private individuals without additional activities

  • Until 8 days before the planned visit, it is possible to change or cancel for free.
  • 8 to 1 day(s) before the visit we will charge € 5 per person for a partial or full cancellation.
  • Until 2 days before the planned visit, it is possible to reschedule your visit for free (based on availability).
  • In case of a cancellation from 1 day before the start of your visit, no refund is possible.

Schools or groups without additional activities

  • Until 8 days before the planned visit, it is possible to change, reschedule or cancel for free (rescheduling will be based on availability)
  • 8 to 1 day(s) before the visit we will charge € 5 per person for a partial or full cancellation.
  • 8 to 1 day(s) before the planned visit 50% of the total amount will be charged in case of rescheduling (based on availability).
  • In case of a cancellation from 1 day before the start of your visit, no refund is possible.

Private individuals, schools or groups with additional activities
Tours

  • Until 8 days before the planned visit, it is possible to change, reschedule or cancel for free (rescheduling will be based on availability)*
  • 8 to 1 day(s) before the visit we will charge € 5 per person for a partial or full cancellation.
  • 8 to 1 day(s) before the planned visit 50% of the total amount will be charged in case of rescheduling (based on availability).
  • In case of a cancellation from 1 day before the start of your visit, no refund is possible.

Additional activity(-ies)

  • Until 8 days before the planned visit, it is possible to change or cancel for free.
  • 8 to 4 day(s) before the planned visit, 50% of the additional activity costs per person will be charged.
  • No refunds are possible in case of cancellation from 3 days before the planned visit.

*This also applies to the additional activities

18. Refund in case of no-show or arriving late
No refund is possible for absent visitors belonging to either a group or a private booking. If visitors arrive late for the tour, no refund of the entry fee or other form of compensation is provided. Therefore we request visitors to check in at the front desk at least 30 minutes before the start of the tour.

In the following cases we cannot provide a refund or any other form of compensation:

  • In case of absence or illness.
  • In case the expectations for the muZIEum do not comply with the tour.
  • In case of delays.
  • In case one or more muZIEum screens fail
  • In case the visitor becomes unwell
  • In case of loss or theft of the entry ticket
  • In case the visitor received the entry ticket from a third party, other than the muZIEum, and the entry ticket has not been paid for by the third party.
  • In case the visitor leaves the tour – for whatever reason – at their own request.

If the visitor does not make use of the entry ticket, for whatever reason, this is at their own cost. Once received, an entry ticket cannot be exchanged. In this case it is also not possible to get a refund. If the planned guide for your tour falls ill, the muZIEum will do their utmost to provide a guide in replacement, so the visit can continue as planned. If this is not possible, the muZIEum will contact the visitor and either provide an alternative date, or cancel the visit for free.

19. Disabled, hard of hearing or pregnant persons
The building of the muZIEum is mostly accessible for wheelchairs and walkers. The building provides an elevator, a disabled toilet, ramps and broadened doorposts. We ask visitors who are hard of hearing, pregnant, or who want to visit the muZIEum in a wheelchair or walker to contact us. Together we will look at the possibilities for your visit.

20. Processing personal data
The muZIEum is convinced that the protection of the privacy of her (website) visitors is of key importance. Therefore, personal data of the visitors will be treated and protected with the utmost care. The muZIEum keeps to the demands of the Personal Data Protection Act. The muZIEum will never sell/and or provide personal data to third parties. The muZIEum wants to use the personal data of visitors to keep them up to date with (new) products and services of the muZIEum and inform them of the state of affairs of the muZIEum and related projects or developments. If visitors do not appreciate the information about (new) products and services, they are able to cancel via the cancellation option in the newsletter or notify us in writing.
